So – November 1st. A new month and two new challenges for this blogger
First and foremost, I have been recruited to the Faculty Mo Bros team and I am therefore now committed to growing a moustache for the thirty days of the month as part of a fundraising effort in support of various men’s health charities. If this is new to you, you can find more details here : http://uk.movember.com/ I have to admit to entering this with more than a hint of trepidation, and my wife and daughter are positively horrified at the prospect. The problem is that Charlotte remembers what I looked like when I had a moustache during the first 10 years or so of our married life; and worse than that, our daughter has only seen the appalling photographs of me from that time! It’s absolutely true to say that I looked older in 1994 than I do now, or than I will in another twenty years! Still, it’s for a good cause, and I’ll post the details of how you, dear reader, can support it later in the month. Who knows – I might even post the occasional photograph so that you can monitor my progress (and yes, that is a threat rather than a promise!)
The second challenge is to see if I can complete a blog post here for every day of the month as part of the NaBlPoMo initiative which is the micro-alternative to National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) which also starts today (http://www.blogher.com/blogher-topics/blogging-social-media/nablopomo). As a relatively new blogger still, I am looking forward to the challenge of disciplining myself to complete a blog post each day for the next 30. I’m hoping to maintain the fairly eclectic mix of topics that have been included here so far, and I hope that you will find the posts interesting, entertaining, challenging and (above all) readable. I’d love to get feedback from you on your reactions to the posts as they appear – use the comments facility on the blog and I’ll try to respond where appropriate. If there’s a topic or subject that you’d like me to address during the month, please feel free to include those suggestions too – the biggest challenge is likely to be finding inspiration for entries every day
So – apologies in advance if I clog up your Facebook timeline or Twitter feed with notifications of new posts every day; and very sincere apologies if you are of a nervous disposition and happen upon any photographs of me and my mo here by accident. On the bright side, it’s only 30 days until December!
